In these days I read about a new service avalaible on internet (Lulu.com) for those who wants to publish a book.
It's a free system that allow you to upload your book, and when someone want to buy a copy, it will be printed. This allows you not to have any costs in case your book isn't sold.
It is also possible that you want only allow the download of your book, in this situation there will be no printing costs.
I think this is very useful for those who wants to try to write a book, while the editor says the book is not interesting. The success of the book will be in the hand of the market and of the customer. The only problem i think will be relevant is the way people will know the presence of new book, but i also think that if it become an used system this problem will be not so relevant.
